We got tired of waiting...
A global pandemic could only stop us for so long.
Sometimes done is better than perfect. Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our friends and family, so we kept the ceremony small, short, sweet, and to the point.
As you may know, we had already moved our original wedding date once from June, but as that second date approached we found out from our venue that even our second date of October 2020 would not be an option. Although we had our hearts set on our plans to create and share a wonderful event for all our guests, we were not content with delaying our life together any further (until 2021 at the earliest in a best case scenario). With county clerk offices closing across states and marriage license appointments becoming scarce, we were able to move quickly to coordinate a quick elopement ceremony in San Diego to at least be able to tie the knot in 2020.
For the rest of our loved ones, we haven't forgotten about you. We still hope to share the spirit and celebration of our marriage with everyone once circumstances allow us to do so in the manner we intended. Whether that is in late 2021 or beyond, please expect us to reach out with the details once it is safe to do so.
Until then, we will be leaning on each other as husband and wife, tackling whatever 2021 has in store for us together.
– what's next? –
Awaiting a return to normalcy...
With the luxury of patience, we will continue to check the latest federal, state, and local guidance from reputable experts as we decide what our celebration will look like. We'll be considering the health and safety of our guests above all in a post-pandemic world. We're confident that we can still find a way to celebrate our love with our guests eventually.
Playing it safe...
Once the stay-at-home orders are consistnetly lifted across Illinois, California, and especially Utah, we'll be slowly and safely resuming our wedding celebration planning activities. Once we feel safe enough to travel back to Utah, we will be traveling down to re-start the process. Our guests should expect to hear a confirmed plan along with formal invitations as soon as we feel comfortable.
Considering all options...
We believe a strong marriage allows for compromise and our ceremony will also likely need to remain flexible. Luckily the venue we originally selected is open enough to allow enough space, and we will still plan on working with them for our celebration. We can't wait until everyone can share in the moment together, but can rest a little easier knowing that we can wait the uncertainty out
